StartOS 0.4.0-beta.7

I’m upgrading to StartOS 0.4.0-beta.7 and I’ve got an option to choose a data drive. I have an external HDD that I want to start using with StartOS but it’s not suitable for the Blockchain that I’d like to keep on my internal SSD.

I don’t really understand the separation of the two drives in the drive selection menu. I couldn’t find anything in the documentation about this.

Can I add a drive later or is this my only opportunity?

StartOS supports a single data drive, or partition. At a maximum you can have two drives in a DIY server, one for the OS and one for the Data. Most people though prefer to have one single large drive and allow StartOS to create a small partition for the OS and a large one for the data. If you are going to do this, you’d select the same drive for both the OS and Data. Generally you should not have USB drives hanging out the back of a computer for anything important.

The above also means you can’t have a smattering of drives connected any which way with bits of data on different drives, such as Bitcoin on one drive, Nextcloud on another drive etc.
