StartOS Backend

This is my first post, so I want to begin by thanking the Start9 team for their incredible work they have done with this customized linux distro! I really appreciate the effort they put into StartOS.

Next, I’ll apologize if this should be in a different forum category–wasn’t quite sure where to post it. I’ll mention, too, that I’m not a programmer/coder nor a common linux user.

I became interested in StartOS to run my own bitcoin node and possibly some other services. I also became interested in customizing my own version of it, thus leading me to download the source and try to compile it. Which leads me to my question: would the StartOS backend (startbox) compile correctly and the binary work correctly if done in WSL2? Has anyone tried this or do I need to compile on a physical host?

Technically it would compile on anything that has all its ducks in a row regarding dependencies etc. Realistically… WSL2… I very much doubt it. I assume you’re asking because you don’t want to try?

In any case, you’ll be able to ask experts and get better replies here:
