New user , using an old windows desktop to install startOS 0.4.0. So impressed that the blockchain synced in only 1 day 10 hours. So happy to complete a backup over samba. Then I pressed the upgrade button and on reboot the boot fails. It says I’m in emergency mode and to view logs in the console. That would be best but it also says “Cannot open access to console, the root account is locked”.
What’s next?
Rebooted into UEFI or BIOS to see if it was booting from the right drive, it was so I made no changes. As it booted I saw a chance to boot in a StartOS recovery os. I only saw the choice for a second and wasn’t quick enough to choose it. That reboot was a fail in the manner as above. Rebooted again and chose recovery os. That fixed it, it booted normally. Just to make sure I rebooted again and it again was normal.
