StartOS pool question

I am looking to purchase a Start9 server to host my own pools/nodes but I am receiving conflicting information. I was going to buy from a online dealer but when I asked what coins you could mine with it I was told bitcoin only, is this true? I would like to mine other things as well like bitcoin cash, maybe some doge, you know whatever I feel like.

Please advise if this is so.

StartOS is a personal server operating system. There are no set restrictions as to what services you can run on it. But it’s not a mining rig. Software must be packaged and maintained for the OS it is intended to run on. Here is a list of services maintained and supported by the Start9 team:

But anyone can package software for StartOS. Here is a list of software packaged and maintained by community members:

Software that’s packaged for StartOS can also be side-loaded directly. It does not necessarily need to be in one of the registries, for public consumption. Or you can even add custom registries at your own discretion.

Yeah basically what I want to do with is it if possible is setup Polls for bitcoin/bitcoin cash/doge etc cvarious pools so I can point my miners at it. Stores advertise these units to be able to do this but one told me that the only node available to create a private mining pool is for only straight bitcoin. I know I am very new to this so my terminology might be off. I know they dont mine, they host your private pool so you can point your miners to that.

That is what I want to do but not just for bitcoin.

Awesome! Let’s do it! If you’re not up for the challenge of packing the software you want, yourself, reach out to the devs of that project and ask them to package for StartOS.

Start9 is focused primarily on the OS, and creating an environment where anyone can package software for StartOS.
