Unable to get Root CA working

Have successfully downloaded my Root CA, and have successfully run all the CLI commands to ‘install’ (activate?, or __) it. But no new CAs are indicated on finishing the CLI commands (yet NO error msgs are thrown from any of those commands). Also succeeded in confirming that the ‘security.enterprise_roots.enabled’ setting (for Firefox) was (already) set to True. But remain unable to connect to my (newly set up) Server One running StartOS 3.5.1 USING HTTPS (can only connect to it from TOR via ‘plain’ http). :frowning:

If there’s some way to upload supporting docs, i have a pdf w/ some annotated screenshots of what I’m getting. THANKS!

What guide are you following? Sounds like a linux one. The steps in the docs are correct, but like anything CLI, you need to exact.

You also say you’re a customer, did you miss your invite to start9.me ?

Hi Stuart;
I’ve been a Start9 customer since Nov 2021, at TABConf of that year. Tho’ @ first, I only bought a copy of the OS (@ that time, you still offered it for sale). By 2023, I began ‘building’ Raspi nodes, eventually getting about a dozen of them working (w/ a few failures as well). David Croissant probably lost some hair over my travails w/ those - sorry, David! Then I bought an Embassy Pro around the time of its introduction (that server was shipped to my friend Richard Dozier in San Francisco). The next, and my latest, S9 purchase was the new Server One (I bought 2 - one w/ 16GB RAM; the other w/ 32GB). Both of these I bought directly from Matt @ last April’s BitBlockBoom conf, in Ft. Worth, Texas. I don’t recall receiving an invite to your support group for any of the hardware purchases - tho’ the Embassy Pro purchase was a while ago & i may have forgotten/ overlooked an invite for that purchase. Anyway, yes, I ditched Msft for my latest laptop (bought in Singapore about 1.5 yrs ago), & am running Ubuntu 24.04 on it. I do think its OS & most apps are up-to-date, as I let it auto-update.
I do know that computers have to be interacted w/ quite literally - a single wrong character will result in some sort of fail. But since I received no error msgs on any of the CLI commands I issued in attempting to get the Root CA set up, I THINK I got all those exactly right. The only thing I can think of that i might have gotten wrong would have been to include both the single-quote (aka, apostrophe) characters: ‘ ; and/or the double-quote ones: “ . But again, if either of those is not to be used when I’m entering the unique identifiers for my machine & setup, I’d expect an error to be thrown on those commands, no?
Thanks,
will

Send me a quick email at stu@start9.com so I can get you set up with a code. At least one of these devices should have a “redemption code” sticker on the bottom though.

For the Root CA, you’ll have to show me your screen each step of the way so we can work out where you went wrong. We might as well do that by email too!
