Hi, something weird happening but putting in here just in case another user is experiencing the same. This is not critical but annoying.
I cannot type special characters, for example “^”, when typing my password when logging into my Start9 server. I guess it has to do with my keyboard layout as I usually type in different languages. These are the details:
OS: Linux Mint
Browser: Firefox
Keyboard layout: English (US, intl., with dead keys)
Note this didn’t happen in the old Start9 version and also it doesn’t happen in my Windows computer where I have a similar layout for the keyboard.
That’s almost certainly your keyboard layout rather than the server. “English (US, intl., with dead keys)” treats ^ (and ', `, ~, ") as “dead keys” — they wait for the next key to form an accented character, so pressing ^ on its own produces nothing.
To type a literal ^, press the ^ key followed by Space. That should let you enter your password normally.
If that’s awkward, you can also paste the character into the field, or temporarily switch to a plain “English (US)” layout just for logging in.
Yes, the way you describe it it’s how I use it. However, in the Start9 logging page typing ^ follow by space (like I just did now while writing this message) produces a space. Currently I need to copy/paste the character from somewhere else.
