We can provide some guidance. What exact flavor, and version are you running now? What exact version, and flavor are you wanting to run?
Hi Rexter,
I have Bitcoin Knots plus BIP-110 29.3.0 and would like to install knots 29.3.1
When you switched to Knots plus BIP110, was that a fresh install, or did you go through the process to convert from Core or Knots without reinstalling?
as far as I remember it was straight forward installing on top of knots
The reason I ask, is because the procedure will be almost the same. The only difference will be that you need to switch from BIP110 back to Bitcoin Knots 29.3.0, then upgrade to 29.3.1.
When you go into the community registry, and click Bitcoin Knots, scroll down a bit, and click other versions. Choose 29.3.0.
Scroll back up. You should see a button then that says “reinstall.” If not let me know. After you have done that, an update will show available for both Knots, and Core.(which isn’t relevant) You can then update Bitcoin Knots to 29.3.1.
Keep in mind that future version of software likely won’t be available for 0.3.5.1. Please consider upgrading to StartOS 0.4.0 soon.
Thanks Rexter, that seems to have worked - could you clarify the 0.4 upgrade? I have been waiting for an official notification - did I miss something - is there a beta upgrade path that people are expected to follow?
Kind Regards
You haven’t missed anything — 0.4.0 is still in public beta (latest is 0.4.0-beta.9), so it isn’t pushed automatically as the “next version available” in the GUI like normal 0.3.x updates. It’s opt-in, which is why there’s been no official notification.
A few key points before upgrading:
-
You must be on 0.3.5.1 first.
-
Backups don’t carry over — old backups can only roll you back to 0.3.5.1, not restore onto 0.4.0. Update all services and make a fresh backup after upgrading.
-
It’s a complete rewrite, so follow the guide exactly — skipping steps can cause data loss.
