Uninstall applications

Hello, how to uninstall applications in Start9 ?
I upgraded without knowing what I was doing and now the Bitcoin Knots has replaced the Bitcoin Core (which tells me it is installed) what I will do is install the OS again by first formatting the disk but I would like to know how to uninstall applications individually (e.g. the Bitcoin Knots).
Regards

Hi there!

StartOS recognizes Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots as the same service because they share the same ID. Bitcoin Core is listed on the Start9 registry, while Bitcoin Knots is listed on the community registry.

This is currently a tradeoff to allow Bitcoin Knots to exist on StartOS (a feature many users want for both practical and political reasons). However, this issue will be addressed and resolved in the future.

If you want to uninstall Bitcoin entirely, you can go to the Action tab on the service page and click Uninstall. Please note that this will remove Bitcoin completely, including the blockchain data.

If you want to switch to Bitcoin Core, you need to open the developer tools by clicking five times on the MANAGE tab in the System section. Then, go to the marketplace and switch to the Start9 registry. Locate Bitcoin Core and click the yellow Downgrade button.

This will switch to the latest version of Bitcoin Core, which is 28.0.0~1. I recommend stopping the service before reinstalling.

Hello again and thanks for the attention, I must have installed the Bitcoin Knots before and did not have it configured (which is what I did now and I got this problem). What you tell me to do is too complicated for me, I just want to have the Bitcoin Core, electrs and mempool so I think it’s best to install everything again and so I’ll be more relaxed.
Although I think I should try to do what you said to see if I get it right. the Bitcoin Knots I can not uninstall?

Hey,

I think you probably just updated Knots, and now you have Knots instead of Core. As Homer mentioned, they shared the same ID for now.

I would recommend you to try and follow the instructions provided above, and downgrade Bitcoin Core. This way you wont lose the blockchain. If you decide to uninstall Core (in this case Knots) you will have to download the blockchain all over again when you install the service again.

Hi thanks for the reply, I am quite newbie but I will try to follow h0mer’s instructions and try to downgrade Bitcoin Core.

Hello again I close the post here as in the end I couldn’t locate the bitcoin core and the yellow button so I uninstalled Bitcoin knots and now it is syncing the blockchain again.
I have the whole blockchain on another disk but in Start9 I am not clear with the partitions and I don’t know how to copy it to save time in the synchronization.
Thank you for your help, best regards.

For future reference, we do have a guide for that.
