I updated server pure to 0.4 and everything seems to be running good. But sparrow on my PC won’t connect over private electrum server. It was working fine before update. Any suggestions?
Im having the same issue.
I’ve read some of the documentation and start9 now recommends fulcrum over electrs.
Ive downloaded fulcrum and stopped electrs
Let’s see what happens.
Im sure someone here will be able to help us.
Were you able to connect Sparrow using Fulcrum? I am downloading and syncing it now, but curious to know if you were successful.
It’s still syncing. It’s very slow. After 25 hours it’s almost at 60%. I dont know why it’s so slow. Syncing the whole bitcoin chain took only 14 hours. I will let you know as soon as it finishes
I am at 43.4%, 4.43 blocks/sec, 7216.7 txs/sec, 26737.6 addrs/sec in almost 3 hours and 45 mins.
It started out at about 50 blocks/sec and it’s slowed to around an average of 5 b/s.
I dont know why mine is so slow.. since my last post it went from 59.3% to 59.7%
What is the error message that Sparrow is giving you when you do a test connection to the electrum server?
Also check to make sure
- your Tor service is running and healthy - Tor is now a service like any other on StartOS v040.
- go to Services > Electrs > Interfaces > API – and make sure your electrs API interface has a Tor address and that address is the same thing you have entered into sparrow.
Fulcrum takes a long time to build its considerably larger DB than electrs does. But once it’s initially indexed, it’s a lot faster and actually has a complete db unlike stock romanz’ electrs.
Myself I was running Sparrow on my local network and did not use the Tor address. I would get crashes:

Are you talking about running sparrow not on your desktop but on the server? That seems to be what you’re doing, according to that log you just posted, tradenet.
But I don’t see how you’d do that since in 040, there is no Sparrow on any marketplace that I’m aware of. Where did you get it? You’ll have to take this issue to the author.
Sparrow really should be run independently, on a desktop/laptop.
No, I am running Sparrow on my desktop connected on the same local network as the StartOS 0.4.1 machine I just updated from 0.3.5.1.
Updating to the latest version of electrs should help get this going.
OK, I just noticed a new release as of today. Thanks!
Updated Electrs, verified correct TOR addres, and still getting the same issue. I’m 58.5% Fulcrum synced. We’ll see how that goes.
What is the error message that Sparrow is giving you when you do a test connection to the electrum server?
Ahh, sorry, I missed the top line of your log and thought it was generated by Sparrow.
I see that’s the electrs log. Let us know if the electrs update didn’t fix it.
so I fixed electrs on mine by clicking on the use ssl tab below the url.
im not sure if it was on before but now it works but I’m going to use fulcrum instead once its downloaded.
So I downloaded and synced fulcrum and it connected to sparrow right away once the sync was finished. It did a full day to sync. But everything seems to be working now. I haven’t checked electrs but I’ll probably just use fulcrum now. Seems to be more responsive.
Yes. After update of electrs and selection of use SSL. It connected. I am also going to migrate to Fulcrum based on Start 9 recommendation, but it has been 24 hours and still only 88% synced. Until 100, at least I am back up with Electrs. Thanks everyone!
