Hi Team. I’m just trying to figure out what method of storage the 4T server pure comes with, HDD or SSD? I spun up my device from out of the box, got it running well, but now it makes some crazy noises which sounds different to the fan noise. If the Pure is SSD then it’s definitely the fan. I just want to trouble shoot the issue as it does not sound healthy, fluctuating up and down in speed quite a lot as if the ram demand is causing the device to ramp up and down a lot.
Currently with a Lexar NVME SSD. It could be the fan. We’ve had a couple power adapters make weird noises too – lmk if it’s that and we’ll get you a new one. We can RMA your server and eliminate the noise, just DM me with your order number. Or if you want instructions to take it apart and inspect the fan yourself, lmk.
Thanks for the reply, Interesting about the power adaptors. I’m currently away from home so will get the order details to you when home by the end of the weekend. Worse case scenario, im happy to take it apart if need be. I’ll Be in touch soon. Cheers
If you can, make a short video of the sound to share with us. We’d probably be able to tell what it is right away.
If it’s the fan, it should make a consistent sound in line with the revolutions, whereas if its the power adapter it should be an inconsistent crackling sound.
Hi @StuPleb , I have actually made that video already but do not see an upload method. Any tips?

Hi @StuPleb , for some reason, on start9.me I am unable to start a conversation with you so ill send the video to support@start9.com as you recommended.
Either is fine, but I assume that was you who eventually posted the video yesterday and you’re now dealing with George
