Windows client not connecting to .local services

I am trying to connect a Windows 10 client to Start9 Pure. I get the MMM error when trying to connect to Nextcloud or Vaultwarden services.

I have tried all the Bonjour recommendations: Deleting and reloading loading Bonjour and Bonjour Print Services. Hard restart of Browser. Delete all Browser cache. Nothing works.

Has any solved this issue and how?

Windows connection to Bitcoin services works fine.

Hello there

This is most likely a Bonjour issue with resolving mDNS aliases. I have seen this many times, and the usual fix is to uninstall Bonjour and then install it again. Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts. This time, try downloading Bonjour from the link in our documentation. It’s the latest and greatest version available. Let us know how it goes.

I am still having connection issues. I have uninstalled, deleted, and reinstalled Bonjour over 8 times. I hard refreshed my Access Bowser. Rebooted my PC. I still get the MMM error. I am using the latest edition of Windows 10 Home edition 2H22.

When I download Bonjour from the documentation link above, I notice that Bonjour is installed but I do not see Bonjour Print Serv ices as installed. I did download Bonjour Print Services from the Apple site but same error occurred. I deleted all and started from scratch to install Bonjour and get same error. Are there any recommendations as to sequences of deleting, downloading, refreshing and installing Bonjour? Should I try another browser?

can you hit it via IP?

I would like to try to hit via IP but I cannot determine what the IP address is for the NextCloud service on the Start9 server. Only .local address is available.

Can you look at the local router tables or download something like angry ip scanner and see what’s the IP addy. You could scan, then shut down the server, scan, then fire it up and scan and the address that goes away and come back is your server. You running DHCP?

I could not connect on my home network. I moved server and Windows client to a friend’s home network and UI works there. My home network is DSL from CenturyLink. I connected to Verizon 5G WIFI network at a friend’s and all works. Must be an issue with the DSL WIFI.

Sounds like the DSL router is interfering with the mDNS resolution. You could ask your ISP how to fix it. Or better yet, get your own router that you control, and place it between the ISP’s gateway, and your local network.

Until the next release of StartOS, you can only access the admin dash via IP address. None of the services running can be accessed that way.
