Removed the 2TB external drive and reinstalled as the old hardware could not handle the rewrites, so I’m going to do my best with the internal 1TB SSD internal drive.
This is specific to the disk and partition tables. I’d get a linux live boot running, pre-nuke and pre-format, then start over. There are other threads that talk about this.
-Nonfree version
-HDMI and monitor disconnected Ethernet to usb converter was needed. I believe to bypass Realtek ethernet drivers, i used TP-link UE306
-Secure boot i beleive was disabled
-Bypass driver option ticked
Got it working on Acemagic Vista Mini V1 ( ACEMAGIC Vista Mini V1 Mini PC, Twin Lake N150(up to 3.6GHz), 16GB DDR4 RAM). I replaced the 500MB SSD with a new Crucial P3 NVMe 2T SSD formatted to ext4.
It won’t boot with the monitor so you need to go headless. Then look for the IP address in your router and use that to access it from the browser.
Once Start OS was installed the V! hums along nicely.
Succesfully installed StartOS 0.3.5.1-nonfree on a chinese MiniPc:
FIREBAT AK2 PLUS MiniPC
Intel N150
16GB RAM
2TB SATA SSD GOLDENFIR (purchased separately - main hd)
512GB NVME SSD (removed during the installation, but it should not be a problem if you set the desired hard drive as the main one - in this case the 2TB SSD - in the BIOS, instead of removing the other hard drive).
The installation was carried entirely from other computer, since the setup would only run if the MiniPC’s only connections were the power supply, and the RJ45 internet connector. Installation does not work with any other peripherical connected. Also, secure boot was disabled in the BIOS.
Got start 9 working on g3 plus gmktec barebones.
Used crucial 16 gig ram and crucial 2tb drive.
Only thing is no sound via the non free iso.
Not a huge issue but no sound for the normal people might be an issue.
AOOSTAR N1 Pro N150 mini PC. I had to use paulscode’s process (on the Start9 community forum) to get it to boot after the installation. All good after that.
Mini PC LIVA Z2 with N4100, 4 GB, eMMC 64 GB, SSD 7 TB.
Installed & successfully runs Start9OS 0.3.5.1 with Knots for 5 weeks to sync.
The sync was rather slow with swappiness=60 (default), a bit better with swappiness=10 but still slower than under Umbrel 1.4.2 the same HW (full 100% sync was finished within 6 days).
Why? No idea !? (Tor?)
After upgrading RAM to 8GB Knots sync became seemingly faster and runs for 3 weeks, but still rather slow at 83% and many time outs (direct LAN cable to router, 600/63 mbps).
Look forward to Start9OS 0.4 with great hope !!!
Thanks to the Start9OS team !
