Update Nextcloud?

Hello.

Today I noticed a few issues with Nextcloud:

  1. If I try to upload a file from the Android app, I get the message Upload failed: no internet connection, even though I can download files just fine.

  2. After restarting the Android app, I see a banner at the bottom of the screen: The server has reached end of life, please upgrade

  3. Logging into the Nextcloud web interface, I see that I’m on 27.1.7, and the latest version is 27.1.11.

I’m assuming that issue 1 is likely a result of running an old server version.

My question: is it advised to update Nextcloud directly via the web UI, or do we need to wait for the StartOS service to be updated?

If we need to wait, is there any estimate for when that will happen?

All updates to services in the StartOS Marketplace have to be done using the built in StartOS Updates.

At this time 27.1.7 is the latest version available in the marketplace.

It takes a little while for services to be updated since we always need to go over everything and have a round of Beta testing before releasing new versions.

Thanks. I guess that answers my question, but it is not a very satisfying answer.

I understand that it takes time & resources, and I understand the reluctance to give a timeline that might later turn out to be inaccurate…but is it possible to provide any more details?

I’m also hitting this issue - GrapheneOS, latest Nextcloud on StartOS - 0.3.5.1

Hi all,

I’m getting the same issue and cannot currently use next cloud. Is there any update on this?

Thanks

Which one(s)? Three different issues were mentioned. They should be halfway resolved with the update available in StartOS to v28, then fully resolved to v29 released soon.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.
The UI page displays as the image attached. Update needed.

If I try to access via the grapheneos app it tells me I’m offline and / or in maintenance mode. I’ve tried to force out of maintenance mode but nothing happens.
Current version is 28.0.14~1

For you to be on 28.0.14~1 I can only assume you first upgraded to 28.0.14, it failed, then you upgraded to 28.0.14~1.

I don’t know of a way you can get to 27.0.14 to 28.0.14~1 and have this error. What actions did you take?

Sorry for the late reply. I used the standard update method but I do remember getting an update failed notification. I tried again after that and didn’t get notified that it had failed. If I were to wait until the next update, do you think thus would solve the problem? Or is there another action I should take?

You need to install updates one by one. I mention this because that’s the easiest way to get a failed installation notice. If you’re on v26, you need to installed v27 before you install v28. If you’re on v27, you need to install v28 before you install v29.

You’d need to look under Services to see which version you have currently, then, when you go to the marketplace, you may need to scroll down after choosing Nextcloud to where it says “versions” and install/upgrade to the very next version first.

Thanks mate.
I had a look at the versions in marketplace listing but there is no other v28 previous the one I’m on, and it won’t allow me to downgrade. See screenshot for versions.

You definitely can’t downgrade, 100% impossible. I’m not sure what the issue is or how you’re seeing it.

Can you go to Services → Nextcloud → Launch and show me what you see?

Since there are no available upgrades, you should not be seeing any screen that isn’t the main NC interface.

Thanks for the reply. Its been happening for a few weeks now. Please see screenshot as requested.

There must be some way you got it into this state, since you’re the only use to have done so. Something you did prior.

I’d prefer to see this in a desktop browser where you can adequately hard refresh and we can review the full URL in the address bar.
